The Statewide Faith Based Anti-Stigma ATOD (Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs) prevention campaign includes training/prevention education and unified messaging to Arkansas communities while meeting all the requirements set forth by the American Request Plan Act Supplement Grant and the
Arkansas Department of Human Services -
Division of Aging, Adult, and Behavioral Health Services (DAABHS).
Region 4: (Calhoun, Clark, Columbia, Dallas, Garland, Hempstead, Howard, Lafayette, Little River, Miller, Montgomery, Nevada, Ouachita, Pike, Polk, Sevier, and Union Counties )
The activities are delivered by a statewide infrastructure to train, provide technical assistance and develop prevention strategies that reach out to the region 4 communities to prevent alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use (ATOD).
The Prevention Network Expansion and Enhancement activities are an important step to provide access to substantial numbers of community members, some of whom may not be engaged in prevention activities through other avenues.
Faith-based anti-stigma prevention activities may provide a unique opportunity to address the types of stigmas that often develop as offshoots of religious beliefs and practices.
